Mission
To promote a better society, more fair, more just — a world where technology promotes broad social inclusion based on fundamental rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law. CAIDP assesses national AI policies and practices, trains AI policy leaders, and promotes democratic values for AI.
Milestones
2024: Launched global campaign for Council of Europe AI Treaty; launched CAIDP California affiliate; built network of 1,400+ AI policy experts across 120+ countries.
2023: Filed FTC complaint regarding OpenAI/ChatGPT-4; President Merve Hickok testified before US Congress on AI policy.
2022: Launched Ban Facial Surveillance campaign and Transparency Project using FOIA.
2021: Incorporated as 501(c)(3) in Washington, DC; received Candid Platinum Seal.
2020: Released first AI and Democratic Values Index ranking 30 countries.
