CIFAR leads the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the world's first national AI strategy, supporting cutting-edge and responsible AI research, talent, and safety.
Milestones
2017: Appointed by the Government of Canada to design and lead the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy, the world's first national AI strategy, establishing Amii, Mila, and the Vector Institute as national AI institutes
1982: Founded in Toronto to convene researchers across disciplines (its early AI program helped seed modern deep learning)
