Mission
To provide the European Commission with in-house technical and scientific expertise on algorithmic transparency and accountability. Part of the Joint Research Centre, ECAT analyses and evaluates the algorithmic systems of very large online platforms and search engines to ensure compliance with the Digital Services Act, and investigates the long-term societal impact of algorithms.
Milestones
2023: Inaugurated on 18 April in Seville by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre to support DSA enforcement
